I Have to Know

A questioning has been burning within my gut. I must know.

Do you or your significant other iron blue jeans?

No Way!!!! Put ‘em in the dryer for 10 minutes and then hang them up to finish drying. Smooth ‘em a bit and fold ‘em and you are all set!!!

  2. Rodney Olsen March 31, 2005 at 4:09 pm #

Just make sure that you hang them on the line the right way and wear them few a few minutes before heading out and they’re good to go.

  3. Thia March 31, 2005 at 4:10 pm #

    Defenitly not.

  4. Beth March 31, 2005 at 5:06 pm #

um, no. He’s lucky if he gets anything ironed. Jeans? no way. and actually he doesn’t care. as long as the clothes are clean.

  5. Anvilcloud March 31, 2005 at 5:09 pm #

Well, I’m shocked by Cuppa’s response. You’d think that somebody who deliberately starches my shorts would iron my jeans. Sheesh!

  6. Cuppa March 31, 2005 at 5:32 pm #

Just goes to show you that there is always something new to learn about the person you are married to. The surprises just never end!

  7. Donna March 31, 2005 at 6:40 pm #

Nope. If they are wrinkled from sitting in the dryer I give them a spray of water and fluff for 5 min or so.

  8. Marguerite March 31, 2005 at 7:05 pm #

    Never.

If my DH wanted them ironed I would do it because I love him, but I would consider it a ridiculous request and he would owe me big time.

But then one of the reasons I love him is because he isn’t the kind of guy who wants his bluejeans ironed, so it would never happen.

  9. Dawn March 31, 2005 at 7:08 pm #

No! Ironing is against my religion. ;) It should be outlawed and considered abuse. LOL

  10. Gem March 31, 2005 at 7:21 pm #

Nope! I’m with Marguerite. If he wanted them that way I’d do it — it’s my love language, acts of service, but as it is, his cotton shirts and khakis get ironed. Jeans stay in the washer a day, if they don’t smell, into the dryer. Sit there a day or two, then shaken severly, folded, and into the drawer. Or into a basket, where he’ll find them after his drawer is empty.

  11. Marykay March 31, 2005 at 7:24 pm #

    No. Not a chance.

  12. Judy March 31, 2005 at 7:34 pm #

As a general rule, no. But one day this week I did.

We haven’t had a dryer in a few years, so on a few occassions I have had to.

    Never.
    Not once.
    Ever.
    And we’re old.
    Oldish.

Umm … no. Never. Are you supposed to? I don’t think I have ever heard of such a thing!

  15. Christi March 31, 2005 at 9:49 pm #

I believe that there are laws against that in many states, and I am definitely a law-abiding citizen! Besides, jeans are meant to be soft, comfy and a little on the worn-in side. Ironing them would ruin that.

  16. HomeJewel March 31, 2005 at 10:13 pm #

No way. But . . . when I was a teenager, sometimes my jeans weren’t quite dry ater being washed and hung out to dry. I’d put them on the wood stove and use the kettle filled with water to “iron” them dry. That’s as close as I have ever gotten to ironing jeans.

  17. Gina March 31, 2005 at 10:21 pm #

Nope! I haven’t broken out an iron in quite a long time. If I did it would be for a dress shirt or that type of thing.

Into the dryer on high for a few minutes and they are as good as new. :)

hung up to dry and starched and ironed…..

  21. A April 1, 2005 at 12:28 pm #

Um, NO! My DH doesn’t iron anything, really. But he does make sure his jeans are folded and hung right out of the dryer, so I guess there is some attention to wrinkle prevention!

Real Oklahoma cowboys wear starched, creased jeans. They should be able to stand up by themselves. Of course, one usually takes them to the cleaners for this treatment. I’m not married to a cowboy, so we don’t starch or iron our jeans in our little corner of Oklahoma.

Tumble dried is good enough for us. Now slacks though are a different story.

My dh generally doesn’t iron at all, and while I will iron t-shirts, I don’t iron jeans. My mom does, though.

  25. Heather April 1, 2005 at 6:57 pm #

To me, ironing is like the PLAGUE!

  26. Kyndal April 1, 2005 at 8:37 pm #

I’m married to an Oklahoma cowboy as Jan made reference to in her comment. He takes all of his jeans (Wranglers, of course) to the cleaners to be starched. As Jan pointed out, the jeans do stand up by themselves. Thankfully, since he takes his jeans to the cleaners I do not have to iron them. As for my own jeans, I do not iron them. I try not to iron anything unless absolutely necessary.

Yes I iron jeans and t shirts. I iron about twice a week. I iron everything. I’m from the old school. I just can’t help myself!

  28. Saija April 2, 2005 at 8:55 pm #

    iron! what’s an iron? :)

  29. k April 3, 2005 at 6:46 pm #

Though I am fully capable of operating an iron, I prefer to leave the task to professionals — the drycleaner gets all the jeans & shirts & when I pick them up, they’re all crisp, starched, ironed & seamed… I tried starching & ironing jeans myself, but they came out looking like they’d had Elmers Glue dumped on them and they were really uncomfortable.

  30. Tina April 5, 2005 at 1:37 pm #

    Uh…actually yes…
    I have a real neurosis about wrinkles…

  31. Tracy April 11, 2005 at 9:15 pm #

Well yes actually, but only one pair…they’re Cory’s wrangler jeans, VERY Stiff, and they NEED it…but that only happens before the oh…3 times a year he wears them. Otherwise, NO!

  32. Tiffany (aka minza9mm@aol.com) April 11, 2005 at 11:58 pm #

    This begs the question…. Why?

I am banned form ironing ANYTHING!
The last time I ironed something was in January I am still sporting the scar. :(

  33. maccabeus March 20, 2006 at 2:00 pm #

i rock my jeans wit a cuff and a crease. a razor sharp crease. so this does require ironing and lotsa startch. taking them to the cleaners to get them pressed is easist, but doing it myself is cheaper.

  34. Jeff September 19, 2006 at 8:14 pm #

Well if you use a dryer, you dont have to iron jeans. But alot of us grew up without an dryer.. and I had to iron every pair of jean for most of my life. sucks huh?

  35. Gary July 20, 2008 at 7:35 am #

It is a southern way of life. People in the south wear pressed jeans. It is a subtle thing here that often goes unnoticed by most yankees
