Clorox College Guide Blog Tour
Some women my age have children in college. I have a child in first grade. So my nest will not be empty for a very long time.
However, it’s college time for a lot of kids and parents. In fact, I just talked to a mom today who returned from Ohio where she delivered her college freshman and helped set up her room. (I cannot imagine.)
Moms like her (and maybe you)–and college kids everywhere–are the reason the Clorox Company compiled a “College Survival Guide.” You can find an edition to download here. (It’s cool; I like it!) The guide includes cleaning tips and information to help students makes the transition to college life. (Decorating rooms, keeping up with laundry, regional trends, and all the rest.)
Of course, fighting germs is part of what Clorox is all about, so there’s information on how to deal with the threat of the H1N1 virus (which is already striking some campuses around here).
You can also go to Facebook and search for “College Survival Guide 2009″ and become a fan. I did.
If you have a child in college, send him or her a letter. My dad sent me a handwritten letter when I left for college and it’s one of my prized possessions.
Also? Do not send your child on a Greyhound bus to college if you live in Washington State and the college is in Missouri. I speak from personal experience. That’s one long, long, long trip to make alone when you are 18.

“I wrote this review while participating in a blog tour campaign by Mom Central on behalf of The Clorox Company and received a gift certificate to thank me for taking the time to participate.”

My daughter is Senior in high school. My son is a Junior. I can’t believe that we are at the door of college. Maneuvering the waters of college seem difficult at times. So thanks for the information.
I’ll be keeping you company for a few years Mel.
My longest-friend (don’t want to call her oldest!) sent her second child off to college this year–and she didn’t get married until she’d graduated from college and had her first child a couple years later! I recently reconnected with a gal I met at camp in HS–she has a grandchild my son’s age! I always knew I was a late bloomer…
It was hard enough sending my oldest off to first grade this year and having him away all day. I don’t even want to think about college, but those that are in that boat will appreciate the resources, I’m sure.
