I've read all of them except for about 4 which I think are books for very young children. Little House in the Big Woods was the first real length book I ever read (and after that I never went back to baby books). I also remember reading Little Women in second grade - I had to get special permission to check books out of the regular section of the library, and there were a few words I didn't know the meaning of (e.g. "bosom"), but I persevered through and went on to read the rest of Louisa May Alcott's books (although I was a little older by then). Other authors and series that I loved include all of the "Anne" books by L.M. Montgomery, the Betsy-Tacy series by Maud Hart Lovelace, and A Wrinkle in Time and all other books by Madeline L'Engle. There are so many others, but these have the deepest place in my heart and memory. I also have to include Gone with Wind, which I read when I was 10 or 11, which at 1024 pages was the longest book I had read to date (Harry Potter being a long way off back then), and I loved it so much I read it over multiple times.

I have read most of them. But this one hooked me into reading for life.
Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret by Judy Blume
I was going through a terrible time as a kid, and seeing her go through things encouraged me.
As a homeschooler, I loved reading the Little House series, and Little Women to my kids. Great memories!

Ha. I haven't read most of that list but that's not surprising because I'm German. What got me hooked was "Winnetou" by Karl May. Books about native Americans written by a German who never left Germany. But those were the first books I couldn't put down. Also the first that made me cry. Not when Winnetou died but when his horse did...

"Little Women" definitely started my lifelong passion for reading! I'll never forget reading it for the first time at around 7 or 8 years old.

I read all the Little House books numerous times and I am not surprised to see these on the list...but I was delighted to see "Encyclopedia Brown!" I LOVED those books.

When my brother was very small he loved Curious George. We ended up recording the books on a reel to reel tape recorder because he wanted to hear it read to him at breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I vaguely remember some of the ones for wee ones, but Where the Red Fern grows stuck out, because I remember connecting with it emotionally. It made me really sad at a fairly young age.

I've read and own most of them.

The one that hooked me?

Curious George.

My piano teacher had them. It was my favorite part of taking piano lessons.

I had read about 75% of them. My favorite as a little one was The Pokey Little Puppy. Now that is my youngest son's favorite.
